County School Signalbox

County School signalbox at Brundall

In preparation for Mid-Norfolk Railway’s line to be extended to County School, NRF are facilitating the relocation of Brundall signalbox to the station, adjacent to the level crossing.  Rather than sit unloved out of sight at Brundall, the signalbox will be fully restored and once again control trains.

Built ready for the 1883 opening of the Yarmouth branch via Acle, Brundall signalbox controlled trains up until February 2020. Since then, the grade 2 listed building has been ‘landlocked’ at the end of the station platform.

This project will be part funded by Railway Heritage Trust with match funding required from donations. An appeal will be launched once we have confirmation when the move will go ahead. Our aim to move the building summer 2027. The same team and methodology successfully applied to the relocation of Reedham Jn and Oulton Broad North signalboxes will work on the Brundall move.
